The Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division specializes in serving key customers by hauling wood fibre, including wood chips, sawdust and hogfuel, from various origins to key customer destinations in the Interior and Lower Mainland BC. Approximately 160 employees report into the Kamloops Fibre Trucking Division, including Company Drivers, Lease Operators, Shop Staff and Office Staff.


We are looking for a Transportation Coordinator for our largest Trucking Division – Kamloops Fibre. Working directly under the Division Manager, this role best suits a motivated individual with an analytical mindset and a desire to advance their leadership abilities. As many of our Operation Supervisors begin their careers in this role, it is imperative to have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to adapt and pivot when required, and to be technologically proficient.


Responsibilities



  • Assist with the planning, coordination and oversight of the routing and scheduling of drivers and equipment, ensuring compliance with time schedules and applicable laws, codes, rules and regulations.

  • Ensure drivers have proper instructions to perform their duties safely and listen to all driver concerns and act on them appropriately.

  • Ensure schedules are carried out effectively and efficiently. Coordinate the daily assignment of company and contracted resources to maximize equipment productivity and payload while maintaining a high level of customer service.

  • Make necessary adjustments for road closures, overloads, lateness and related problems. Communicate regularly with drivers to assist and manage implications caused by truck problems, lateness and accidents.

  • Communicate with customers to report compliance to daily targets and as a course of action should deviations occur.

  • Communicate with various supplier sites to exchange information, coordinate activities and resolve issues, concerns and questions regarding trucking services, customer site and/or driver issues.

  • Follow all workplace safety policies and compliance regulations, participate in identifying hazards.

  • Comply with all rules and regulations, protocols and established metrics.

  • Continuously survey the existing trucking program for safety and cost improvement opportunities and advise the manager of ways to improve current systems.

  • Assists in the implementation of policy and process improvement.

  • Coordinate with shop personnel and drivers regarding repairs and preventative maintenance schedules and timelines.

  • Schedule and coordinate required driver training and orientation.

  • Collect and review driver paperwork, ensuring it is complete, accurate, and timely.

  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.

  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor and Division Manager.


Qualifications



  • 2-4 years experience in transportation and/or relevant role/industry.

  • Post‑secondary education preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Strong safety mindset.

  • Exceptional problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills.
