What you'll do
- Safely operate transit vehicles while delivering professional, customer-focused service.
- Assist passengers with mobility devices during boarding, securing, and exiting.
- Manage fares by collecting payments, validating passes, and issuing transfers.
- Communicate route, schedule, and system information clearly to riders.
- Prepare buses for service, including cleaning and performing minor mechanical checks.
- Maintain transit facilities such as shelters, signs, terminals, and stops.
- Provide backup driving support based on operational needs.

In this combined role, your day may include preparing buses for service, safely transporting passengers across the city, assisting riders with mobility needs, and communicating route information, all while maintaining a professional, customer‑focused approach. You'll also support behind‑the‑scenes operations by cleaning buses, completing basic mechanical checks, and helping maintain transit stops. With flexible, varied duties and the opportunity to step in as backup when needed, each shift offers meaningful community impact and hands-on experience.
What you bring
- Strong customer service skills and a genuine interest in serving the public.
- Ability to stay calm, focused, and professional in busy or unexpected situations.
- Solid decision-making skills with the ability to work independently.
- Comfort working in varying weather conditions and performing manual tasks.
- Flexibility to work rotating shifts, be available on short notice, and provide at least five days per week of on‑call availability during operational hours:
- Transit Operators: 6:30 am to 11:00 pm
- Service Workers: 6:00 am to 1:00 am
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- A valid Alberta Class 2 Driver's License with airbrake endorsement and a clean driving record.
- Valid Standard First Aid, CPR-C & WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
- Experience working with persons with disabilities is an asset.
- Ability to safely operate larger vehicles is considered an asset.
- This position has been identified as Safety Sensitive and requires the completion of a satisfactory pre-employment drug screen, which includes testing for cannabis use.
