Reporting to the Manager of Tax, the Senior Tax Analyst will be responsible for tax provision, ensuring compliance of commodity tax and corporate tax filings, assisting with tax audits, drafting objections, and special projects as required. The successful candidate will bring critical thinking, attention to detail, and a strong drive to learn while supporting our culture of care across Canada.

This position will be based at our Head Office in Markham, Ontario. Extendicare offers a hybrid working environment.

Key responsibilities include:
Prepare and review monthly and quarterly income tax provisions, including related reconciliations and supporting schedules.
Prepare Federal and Provincial corporate income tax returns, partnership returns, and related information returns in compliance with statutory requirements.
Manage indirect tax compliance, including GST/HST/PST filings, GST111 annual returns, NRRP rebate claims, elections, and remittances.
Perform detailed account analysis and prepare working papers to support income and indirect tax filings and provisions.
Research, analyze, and document technical tax issues, including operational commodity tax matters, and prepare clear written tax memoranda.
Support CRA and other tax authority audits, assessments, and reassessments; reconcile filings to assessments and draft objections as required.
Coordinate tax payments and ensure timely, accurate remittance across all applicable jurisdictions.
Contribute to the monitoring and optimization of the Company's overall tax costs, recoveries, and process efficiencies.
Maintain compliance with internal controls, policies, and procedures; identify process improvements and support implementation initiatives.
Collaborate cross functionally with Finance and other internal stakeholders to support tax related projects and business initiatives.
Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

What we're looking for:
Bachelor's degree in accounting or a related discipline.
CPA (or working towards the designation).
3–5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax and accounting.
Hands‑on experience with Federal and Provincial corporate income tax compliance.
Experience supporting CRA audits, assessments, and objections.
Experience managing indirect tax filings (GST/HST/PST); healthcare/public service body rebate knowledge is an asset.
Proficiency with tax preparation software (e.g., TaxPrep) and enterprise accounting systems (e.g., Workday).
Advanced Excel skills, including working with large datasets and complex reconciliations.
Experience in the healthcare and/or real estate industry is an asset.
