About The Role:
We are seeking a high‑performing, self‑driven Senior System Specialist/Engineer to join the team developing charging user experience related features. This role focuses on defining and improving the charging user experience and charging‑related system behaviors across GM vehicle platforms. You will collaborate closely with software, UX, validation, mobile, back‑office, and other engineering teams to contribute to a seamless and robust end‑to‑end charging experience, including AC/DC charging, Plug and Charge, and ISO 15118‑based functionality.
What You’ll Do:
- Contribute to the development of system and solution requirements for charging experience, including AC/DC charging behavior, Plug and Charge (PnC), ISO 15118 communication, and V2G/bi‑directional features where applicable.
- Support the definition and management of system and solution requirements, interfaces, states, and performance targets within infotainment and compute‑oriented systems.
- Participate in the decomposition and allocation of product, feature, and system functionality to software and compute platform teams.
- Collaborate with cross‑functional partners including software engineering, validation, UX, mobile, back‑office services, cloud, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Assist in issue triage, root‑cause analysis, and resolution during development and testing phases.
- Ensure alignment with safety, cybersecurity, regulatory, and charging protocol standards (e.g., ISO 15118, CCS, DIN 70121).
- Support continuous improvement activities and help enhance system robustness and user experience.
- Document system deliverables, maintain requirement traceability, and support program milestones and readiness reviews.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of systems and software architecture, embedded software development, and testing methodologies.
- 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, embedded software, EV charging, connectivity, or a related development domain.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Computer, Software, Mechatronics, or related).
- Experience with requirement tools such as DOORS / DNG and Rhapsody (preferred).
- Familiarity with Agile or SAFe development methodologies.
- Understanding of CI/CD automation strategies and continuous testing.
- Experience with Service‑Oriented Architecture (SOA) and Behavior‑Driven Development (BDD).
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to work through complex technical challenges.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate across global teams and functional areas.
- Demonstrated organizational agility and ability to work effectively in cross‑functional environments.
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
- 8+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering or EV charging‑related system development.
- Direct experience working with vehicle charging systems, EVSE communication, or cloud‑to‑vehicle charging interactions.
- Familiarity with ISO 15118, Plug and Charge, CCS protocols, DIN 70121, and high‑level EV charging architecture.
- Experience with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE).
- Understanding of V2G/V2H concepts
Compensation:
The salary range for this role is $115,000 to $164,600. The actual base salary a successful candidate will be offered within this range will vary based on factors relevant to the position.
