Senior Digital Content Designer
Job Description
At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experience, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. From our office in Downtown Toronto, we’ve created leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started.
Why is this role important?
As a Senior Content Designer, you will play a strategic role in shaping end-to-end product experiences through language. You’ll partner closely with Product Designers, Product Managers, and Brand and Marketing teams to define problems, influence product direction, and deliver customer‑centred solutions at scale. Reporting into the Director, Product Design, you’ll lead UX content standards for complex initiatives, set standards for quality and consistency, and help mature the content design practice across Loblaw Digital. You’ll bring a strong product design mindset, balancing customer needs, business goals, and technical constraints, while mentoring others and advocating for content as a core design discipline. You’ll work in a highly collaborative environment with a strong culture, contributing meaningfully to the success of Loblaw Digital and the millions of customers we serve.
What You’ll Do
- Establish & evolve UX content standards – You’ll establish, steward and evolve copy and UX writing standards that ensure clear, consistent, inclusive and on‑brand language across Loblaw Digital products. You’ll enable teams to deliver consistent, high‑quality experiences at scale by making standards easy to discover, apply and maintain.
- Embed UX content standards in our design style guide – You’ll partner with our Staff Product Designers to embed UX writing standards directly into our design standards and systems, ensuring language is treated as a core part of product design, not an afterthought.
- Govern UX content standards – You’ll review UX writing and content to maintain a high bar for language quality and consistency across our digital products. Through thoughtful feedback, guidance and shared examples, you’ll support Product Designers in adopting consistent, high‑quality content practices at scale.
- Write hands‑on for major initiatives – You’ll lead the design and writing of content for major initiatives, owning language across complex, end‑to‑end journeys from early concept through launch. You’ll craft clear, inclusive UX writing that supports user flows, states, errors, and edge cases, working closely with Product Design, Product, Engineering, and Research partners.
- Does this sound like you?
- The Strategic Content Leader – You think beyond words on screens, using language as a design and strategic tool to shape end‑to‑end product experiences. You’re comfortable setting standards, providing actionable feedback and influencing direction across complex, cross‑functional initiatives.
- The Trusted Partner & Coach – You build strong relationships with product designers and product managers through thoughtful collaboration and clear communication. You give and receive candid feedback with empathy, help teams grow their content skills, and know how to guide without becoming a bottleneck.
- The Craft‑Driven Systems Thinker – You care deeply about quality, consistency, and accessibility, and you see content as part of a broader system. You enjoy defining patterns, evolving style guides, and embedding content standards into design systems and style guides to enable scalable, inclusive experiences.
Your qualifications should include:
- 7+ years of experience in content design or UX writing, with a portfolio demonstrating shipped, scalable, and accessible digital products.
- Proven experience leading content work within cross‑functional, agile product teams.
- Strong point of view on problem framing, solutioning, and measuring success.
- Experience contributing to or shaping a design system, content standards, or broader design practice.
- Demonstrated mentorship, practice leadership, or contributions to team culture and craft excellence.
