Senior Accountant - Manufacturing (Hamilton)

Our client, is a well-established Hamilton manufacturer with a history dating back to 1933, is seeking a Senior Accountant to join their team. With most production taking place on-site, the company offers a unique opportunity to work closely with operations and leadership while managing full-cycle accounting in a dynamic manufacturing environment. About the Role

The Senior Accountant will play a vital role in maintaining the financial health of the company. Reporting directly to the management team, you’ll be responsible for full-cycle accounting functions, from day-to-day financial transactions to month-end reporting, while supporting continuous improvements in accounting practices.

Position Type: Full-time, permanent, in office.
Hours: Monday-Friday, 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
Location: Hamilton, ON
Salary Range: $80,000-$85,000 per year (based on experience) + Benefits

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage full-cycle accounting: A/P, A/R, journal entries

  • Maintain and reconcile the general ledger and bank accounts

  • Prepare monthly financial statements and management reports, and interpret results

  • Monitor and manage cash flow and bank transactions

  • Payroll processing, including commission payments and administration of the group retirement plan and group benefits plan (50 employees, some independent contractors, some US-based; commissions for sales)

  • Manage and process government filings: HST, EHT, WSIB, employee withholdings, T4s, and other statutory remittances

  • Assist with annual budgeting and year-end audit preparations

  • Support inventory tracking within the ERP system (Global Shop Solutions)

  • Prepare and analyze job costing for projects; provide support to salespeople

  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure timely financial reporting and analysis

  • Support the Plant Controller with identifying, analyzing, interpreting, and communicating financial data to ownership

  • Recommend improvements to accounting systems, processes, and internal controls

What We're Looking For
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a similar full-cycle accounting role; experience from the manufacturing sector is specifically required

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance; CPA designation is an asset but not required

  • Strong understanding of Canadian GAAP and tax compliance

  • Sound knowledge of ERP systems

  • Excellent Excel skills and overall MS Office proficiency

  • Detail-oriented, highly organized, and able to meet deadlines

  • Strong analytical skills with a problem-solving mindset

  • A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and the ability to work independently in a small team environment

Compensation

$80,000 - $85,000 per year, depending on qualifications and experience.
