Our Organization

Association of Manitoba Community Pastures (AMCP) is a not?for?profit organization that oversees some of the largest remaining intact prairie lands in the province through responsible livestock grazing. AMCP operates both as a grazing organization that stewards the land and as an environmental organization that uses cattle to sustainably manage and protect these vital ecosystems. Since our inception in 2014 AMCP has been a leader in collaborating with funders to support the environmental goods and services our landscape provides.

The Role

Reporting to the General Manager, the Range and Project Manager will be primarily responsible to lead AMCP’s efforts to secure grant funding to deliver projects that enhance pasture management for improved cattle grazing and increased environmental benefits. The position is based out of Minnedosa, Manitoba with hybrid work options available. Field work is required at community pastures throughout Manitoba.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Research and identify funding opportunities for AMCP.
  • Manage funding opportunities alongside Pasture Managers infrastructure needs.
  • Manage the completion of range health assessments and management plans.
  • Assist Pasture Managers in identifying pasture needs and developing five-year plans that support sustainable grazing practices while enhancing native plant and animal species.
  • Assist in identification of range improvements.
  • Create/update maps of the community pastures.
  • Complete annual stocking rate reports and grazing utilization maps.
  • Assist General Manager with communications with internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Experience in writing grant proposals.
  • Experience in preparing and managing budgets.
  • Knowledge of prairie ecosystems and established range and management principles.
  • Plant species identification capability.
  • Experience with range health assessments.
  • Demonstrated use of GPS, mapping software (ArcGIS) and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team player with excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Must possess a valid Class 5 driver’s licence with a willingness to travel.

Salary commensurate with experience, qualifications and ability.
