About the Company:
We are a well-established General Contractor specializing in institutional construction projects across the Greater Toronto Area. Our portfolio includes schools, healthcare facilities, government buildings, and other public sector developments ranging from $5M to $50M in value. With a strong reputation for quality, collaboration, and client satisfaction, we are looking to grow our team with an experienced and motivated Senior Estimator.
Role Overview:
The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates for institutional construction projects. This role plays a critical part in the pre-construction phase, ensuring that proposals are well-prepared and aligned with client expectations and company goals. You will collaborate closely with project managers, subcontractors, and consultants to deliver high-quality bids and proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed estimates and budgets for institutional construction projects (schools, healthcare, government, etc.)
Analyze project drawings, specifications, and other documentation to prepare comprehensive cost estimates
Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier pricing
Conduct risk assessments and identify cost-saving opportunities
Prepare and present tender submissions, proposals, and pre-construction documentation
Collaborate with project teams, owners, and consultants during pre-construction and value engineering phases
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of market conditions, material costs, and construction practices in the GTA
Lead and mentor junior estimators and support staff as required
Qualifications:
7+ years of estimating experience with a General Contractor, ideally focused on institutional or ICI projects
Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and building codes in Ontario
Experience working on projects valued between $5M–$50M
Proficient in estimating software (e.g., Timberline, WinEst, or equivalent) and MS Excel
Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Degree or diploma in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field
