Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Taper to join our construction team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for applying finishing coats to walls, ceilings, and other surfaces, ensuring a smooth and professional appearance. This role requires a strong understanding of construction painting techniques, blueprint reading, and general handyman skills. The Taper will work closely with project managers and other trades to deliver high-quality results on time and within specifications.
Duties
- Apply joint compound (mud) to drywall seams, corners, and surface imperfections using taping tools
- Sand and smooth finished surfaces to prepare for painting or further finishing
- Read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to determine taping and finishing requirements
- Perform caulking around joints, trims, and fixtures to ensure a seamless finish
- Assist with carpentry tasks as needed, including measuring, cutting, and installing trim or other components
- Maintain a clean work environment by organizing tools and disposing of debris properly
- Collaborate with other trades such as painters, carpenters, and general contractors to meet project deadlines
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction painting, drywall taping, or related trades
- Knowledge of construction processes, carpentry, caulking, and blueprint reading
- Handyman experience is highly desirable for versatile task execution
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality workmanship
- Physical ability to lift materials, stand for extended periods, and perform manual tasks efficiently
- Reliable transportation and the ability to commute to job sites as required
