Devops QA Engineer(local to BC)
Job Description
Overview
The DevOps QA specialist will be part of an agile scrum team and play a lead role in the creation of and maintenance of software test plans and maintenance of automated testing pipelines to incorporate into our existing deployment pipelines with a focus on iterative, continuous development, where requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between cross functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Validates that software meets intended business and technical requirements in an agile/DevOps environment.
- Leads and coordinates testing activities through system integration and production verification.
- Acts as primary liaison with the Province’s development teams.
- Participates in backlog refinement and sprint planning to identify testing needs early.
- Investigates bugs, determines root cause, and documents defects.
- Conducts automated and manual testing including unit, functional, regression, UAT, exploratory, integration, performance, and data masking processes.
- Provides test reports and escalates issues according to severity.
- Uses modern testing tools such as Cypress, Playwright, PyTest, Selenium, k6 and n8n.
- Develops and integrates automated tests into CI/CD pipelines running on OpenShift 4.x and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
- Advocates for quality and continuous improvement by implementing best practices and providing feedback throughout the development lifecycle.
Qualifications
- 5 years’ experience Software Quality Assurance experience with a focus on both automated and manual testing (Unit, Functional, Regression, UAT, and Integration).
- 5 years’ experience leading and coordinating testing activities across System Integration (SIT) and Production Verification (PVT).
- 3 years’ experience Hands-on experience with modern automation frameworks (Cypress, Playwright, PyTest, or Selenium).
- 3 years’ experience Integrating automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (specifically OpenShift 4.x or Google Cloud Platform).
- 3 years’ experience working within an Agile/Scrum environment, including active participation in backlog refinement and sprint planning.
- 2 years’ performance testing and workflow automation tools (e.g., k6, n8n).
- 2 years’ Data management testing, including data masking processes and validation.
- Proven Experience: Acting as a Lead/Primary Liaison between development teams and stakeholders.
- Proven Experience: Advanced Root Cause Analysis (RCA), investigating complex bugs, and documenting defects with high precision.
- Proven Experience: Technical reporting and issue escalation management based on severity and business impact.
