Title - Mining Senior Hydrogeologist / Engineer
The Opportunity
Skyline Recruitment is working with a well-established and growing environmental and water consulting firm seeking a Mining Senior Hydrogeologist / Engineer to join their team in Sudbury.
This is a senior-level opportunity combining technical leadership, client development, and project delivery to support the continued growth of the firm’s mining practice across Ontario and
Quebec.
The successful candidate will act as a technical authority and market leader, delivering complex hydrogeological and environmental projects while helping expand a strong mining client portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Project Delivery
- Provide senior technical leadership on:
- Mining hydrogeology
- Environmental Site Assessments (Phase I & II)
- Contaminated site remediation
- Terrain and groundwater studies
- Lead interpretation of hydrogeological data and development of conceptual site models.
- Plan and oversee field programs including:
- Drilling and monitoring well installation
- Groundwater and surface water sampling
- Pumping and permeability testing
- Prepare, review, and approve high-quality technical reports.
Mining Market Growth & Business Development
- Develop and manage a portfolio of mining clients across Ontario and Quebec.
- Support proposal preparation and participate in business development initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with:
- Mining companies
- Government agencies
- Indigenous communities and stakeholders
Project & Team Leadership
- Manage project budgets, schedules, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Ensure projects are delivered safely and in compliance with provincial regulations.
- Provide technical mentorship and coaching to junior and intermediate staff.
- Conduct technical peer reviews and ensure QA/QC standards are met.
Qualifications
Education & Professional Background
- Degree in Earth Sciences, Geological Engineering, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related discipline.
- 10–15+ years of relevant experience including:
- Hydrogeology
- Environmental consulting
- ESA and remediation
- Professional designation (P.Geo. or P.Eng.) strongly preferred.
Experience & Skills
- Strong knowledge of the mining sector and related environmental/water services.
- Experience developing and executing business development strategies.
- Proven leadership and mentoring experience.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills (English required).
- French is an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel regionally and occasionally across Canada.
