Job Title: Senior Controls Specialist
Location: Windsor, ON (Full-Time)
On behalf of our client, Forge Consulting Group is seeking an experienced Senior Automation Specialist to join their growing team.
We are looking for a technically skilled leader who thrives on delivering innovative, high-quality automation solutions. In this role, you’ll guide a talented controls team through the design, programming, and implementation of automation systems across a range of complex, cutting‑edge projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, configure, and program automation and control systems using PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA platforms.
- Oversee controls design projects, ensuring reliable, efficient, and on‑time delivery.
- Create detailed electrical schematics and hardware specifications.
- Provide expert problem‑solving support, from root cause analysis to implementation of solutions.
- Evaluate products and processes to identify optimization opportunities.
- Collaborate directly with customers to assess needs and develop customized solutions.
- Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including design specs, test results, and progress reports, in compliance with industry standards.
- Stay current with emerging technologies, industry trends, and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare modular hardwired design concepts and establish design standards for efficiency and consistency.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Electrical, or Computer Engineering (or equivalent experience preferred).
- 9+ years of experience in automation, controls, or a closely related discipline.
- Automotive manufacturing background is an asset.
- Proficient in PLC and HMI programming, particularly Rockwell and Siemens platforms.
- Hands‑on experience with vision systems such as Cognex and Keyence.
- Skilled at conveying complex technical concepts to clients and colleagues.
- Proficiency with CAD and drafting tools.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and communication skills.
- Ability to gather customer requirements and translate them into accurate project scopes.
- Demonstrated accuracy in interpreting and implementing technical specifications.
- Exceptional time management, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of working both independently and within a collaborative team setting.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States or eligible for a TN Visa, as some projects are U.S.-based.
