Position Description
Currently, Tetranex is seeking a Senior Automation & Controls Specialist (Contractor) in the Grande Prairie area.
Responsibilities
- Act as a technical resource to various projects within a Controls, Automation, Electrical and/or Instrumentation capacity. (Preference given to Controls/Automation.)
- Provide technical guidance/mentoring to junior resources.
- Co-ordinate technical support as required to efficiently produce project deliverables.
- Provide Quality Assurance/Quality Control checking and guidance within area of technical expertise.
- Design, programming and commissioning of industrial control and HMI systems (DCS/PLC/SCADA/RTU).
- Experience with Allen-Bradley industrial control systems is required.
- Experience with Honeywell Experion PKS and Emerson DeltaV would be considered an asset.
- Understanding and development of engineering deliverables: P&IDs, Shutdown Keys, Control System Architectures, Control Narratives, Panel Drawings, I/O Drawings, etc.
- Software and hardware acceptance testing.
- Client and vendor communication and interface.
- Experience with loop testing, commissioning and start-up support would be considered an asset.
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of Oil & Gas or related working experience in one of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering/Design, Instrumentation Engineering, or Control Systems Engineering.
- Degree or diploma from a recognized technical institute in one or more of the following disciplines: Electrical Engineering/Design, Control Systems Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or comparable Industry experience.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain relationships with all levels of management, clients, and vendors.
- Willingness/ability to travel and prepared to do site work as required.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
- Demonstrated experience in a Project Management role.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Proven technical competence within the Controls/Automation, Electrical and/or Instrumentation disciplines backed by solid technical post secondary training. (Preference given for automation experience.)
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams.
- Self-motivated and capable of working in a team environment.
- Proven experience working independently to organize, plan, coordinate, and manage multiple projects / tasks simultaneously.
- Willingness/ability to travel and prepared to do site work as required.
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
