Farming Smarter invites motivated and creative people to apply for a Seasonal Communications Intern position to support our outreach, events, and knowledge-sharing initiatives during our busy field season. This role is ideal for a student or emerging professional who is passionate about agriculture, storytelling, and community engagement. The intern will work closely with our communication team to share research results, highlight on-farm innovation, and connect crop producers with practical, timely information.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Draft clear, engaging content for newsletters, social media, website updates, and event promotions
Assist with writing producerfocused articles, project highlights, and staff features
Support social media scheduling, monitoring, and analytics
Help maintain website content, including event pages, news posts, and research updates
Assist with planning, promoting, and delivering summer events such as Field Schools, Open Farm Days, and other tours
Provide on-site support including event set up, registration, and clean up
Help prepare communications materials such as agendas, handouts, and sponsor recognition
Update and refresh YouTube Channel and library

Skills and Qualifications:

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience with social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube, Tik Tok)
Punctual and reliable
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow instructions
Familiarity with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools is helpful
Proficiency in MS office/excel/other software programs
Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively
Positive attitude with a strong willingness to learn and grow
Ability to work effectively both independently and in a team environment
Valid Class 5 driver's license with a clean driver's abstract
Current enrollment or completion of a post-secondary program in communications, journalism, marketing, administration, management, or other related program.
