Reliability Engineer
Job Description
Position Summary
Reporting to the Senior Manager, Maintenance & Reliability, the Reliability Engineer is responsible for leading efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, controls, and utility systems. Identify and manage asset reliability risks that could adversely affect plant or business operations and performance. This role includes loss elimination, risk management, solving complex equipment problems, and life cycle asset management.
Key Accountabilities
- Apply prescribed practices to identify and manage Asset Reliability risks that could cause stoppages and adversely affect plant or business operations.
- Lead and direct Equipment Criticality Assessments, Critical Spares Analyses, and Failure Root Cause Analyses.
- Lead and direct ‘Fact Based’ and ‘Data Driven’ decision making through effective utilization of:
- FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis)
- RAM (Reliability Asset Management) Analysis
- RCM (Reliability Centered Maintenance)
- LCAM (Life Cycle Asset Management)
- TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) methodologies and tools
- Professionally and systematically define, design, develop, monitor and refine an asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
- Value‑added preventive maintenance tasks
- Time‑base maintenance plans
- Effective utilization of predictive and other non‑destructive testing methodologies (e.g., UE analysis, vibration analysis, oil analysis, thermo‑graphic testing, etc.)
- Develop solutions to repetitive failures that adversely affect plant operations, by applying:
- Statistical process control
- Six Sigma (6σ) methodologies
- Root cause analysis (RCA) methodologies
- Work with engineering and maintenance to make recommendations for major repair plans for equipment and machinery.
- Champion standardization and best practices across plant sites.
- Conduct lifecycle costing (LCC) analyses on new, problematic, and aging assets to decide on repair/replacement, repair/design, and make/buy decisions.
- Review and approve new equipment design, lead FAT process, and oversee and manage commissioning.
- Provide technical support, guidance, and validation for all new PM/PdM tasks.
- Establish reliability and work‑planning metrics/KPIs to monitor performance and improvement of PM/CM ratio, MTBF, MTTR, etc.
- Generate Bad Actor Report/Analysis.
- Lead process‑design changes to improve burden and priority systems to reduce ergonomic concerns.
- Oversee breakdown management system, including troubleshooting, reporting/analysis, and recurrence prevention.
Requirements
- 3–5 years of engineering experience preferably in a fast‑paced food‑manufacturing environment.
- Engineering degree or Engineering Technologist diploma (mechanical, industrial, or electrical).
- Maintenance Management Professional certification is an asset.
- Minimum of 2 years experience in a reliability engineering role.
- Excellent computer knowledge, proficiency in MS Office/AutoCAD, solid to advanced spreadsheet skills, and strong analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Self‑motivated and passionate individual with a high sense of urgency, ability to thrive with a variety of work, and deliver consistent results on multiple priorities.
- Lean manufacturing experience is an asset.
Hiring Range: CAD $64,393 – $92,082
Bonus: Eligible for a bonus up to 8% of base salary, subject to plan terms and conditions.
