The salary range for this position is CAD $41.42 - $59.52 / hour.

Overview
In accordance with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) standards of practice and the Mission and Values of Fraser Health, the Registered Nurse, Perinatal provides direct patient care to childbearing patients and their families during the intra‑postpartum and high‑risk antepartum periods.
Responsibilities
- Conduct a comprehensive nursing assessment of the patient and unborn baby upon admission and at regular intervals; determine nursing diagnoses and appropriate interventions.
- Collaborate with patients, families, physicians and the inter‑professional care team to develop, implement and modify optimal care plans.
- Participate in the care and discharge planning process; ensure planning is implemented effectively.
- Coordinate nursing care and make referrals according to established protocols.
- Teach patients and families about health promotion related to pregnancy, birth, postpartum, newborn care and parenting.
- Document assessments, diagnoses, interventions, outcomes and referrals following Fraser Health procedures.
- Participate in in‑services, educational programs, quality improvement, risk management, committees and research projects as required.
- Act as a preceptor or mentor to guide new staff and students.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
Graduate from an approved School of Nursing and hold current registration as a Registered Nurse with the BCCNM. One year of recent, related clinical perinatal nursing experience; completion of postgraduate basic coursework or certification in perinatal nursing. Current Basic Rescuer (Level C) and Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) certificates.

- Complete patient assessment and apply maternal/fetal/newborn theory to provide care.
- Recognize acuity changes and communicate effectively with patients, families and the inter‑professional team.
- Integrate evidence‑based research into nursing decisions.
- Teach and instruct patients and families on essential health topics.
- Organize and prioritize work in a continuously changing environment.
- Operate related equipment and relevant computer applications.
- Perform physical duties required by the position.
