Job Overview:
GME Construction Services Inc., a leading general contractor specializing in civil construction, is seeking an experienced Quality Control/Quality Assurance Manager. This role is pivotal in ensuring that all construction projects meet established quality standards and adhere to regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality management within the construction sector and will be responsible for developing and implementing quality control procedures.
Primary / Key Responsibilities and Duties
· Quality Management System Development: Create, design, implement, and maintain a comprehensive quality management system that meets industry standards and regulatory requirements.
· Project Oversight: Create processes to monitor construction projects, ensuring compliance with quality standards, applicable codes, specifications, and contract requirements.
· Inspection and Quality Testing: Develop and implement procedures for regular inspections and testing of materials, workmanship, and finished projects to ensure adherence to quality standards.
· Training and Development: Create and deliver training programs for staff on quality control practices, procedures, and compliance.
· Documentation: Create and maintain accurate records of quality control activities, including inspection reports, discrepancy reports, audits, and corrective actions.
· Collaboration: Establish processes for working closely with project managers, engineers, clients and subcontractors to support project initiatives and goals.
· Continuous Improvement: Create, implement, and update processes and procedures, identifying areas for enhancement and developing strategies for ongoing improvement.
General/other responsibilities and duties:
- Reviews and reports on the impact of new or revised regulatory requirements on the project quality program/plan.
- Develops and analyzes metrics to measure effectiveness of quality control programs, and reports results.
- Handles quality-related recordkeeping and reporting.
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Qualifications:
· Bachelor's degree in engineering (preferred)
· Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent education.
· Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in quality control programs
· Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
· Proficient in quality management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
· Knowledge in construction contracts, plans, specifications and applicable codes
· Experience with quality programs implementation, measurements and reporting
Work Environment:
· The position is primarily based in the GME Construction Services Inc. headquarters in Winnipeg, Manitoba, with periodic site visits to review field quality control effectiveness.
