Location: North York
Salary: $105-120,000

Your new company
This organization is a boutique, family-owned commercial real estate development and management firm based in North York. The business owns and operates a growing portfolio of 20+ retail strip plazas, totaling approximately 500,000+ square feet across the GTA and surrounding markets including Barrie, Wasaga, Mississauga, Brampton, Vaughan and Aurora

The company develops, builds, acquires, and manages its own assets, operating with an entrepreneurial and hands-on culture. While the team is lean, the portfolio is sizable and expanding, requiring adaptable professionals who thrive in a fast-paced, owner-operated environment. The business is also beginning to expand into purpose-built rental projects, which will be managed by third-party operators.

Your New Role
As Property Accounting Supervisor, you will take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for a portfolio of retail properties and act as a senior partner to the Controller. This role has been created to provide strong, independent leadership across property accounting, improve processes, and support the company's continued growth.

You will oversee full-cycle retail property accounting, manage CAM/TMI reconciliations, interpret leases, and communicate directly with tenants. Over time, you will supervise a direct report and play a key role in strengthening systems, controls, and reporting. This is a hands-on leadership role with clear progression to Assistant Controller and longer-term potential to advance into a Controller position.

What You'll Need to Succeed
6–7+ years of commercial retail property accounting experience (required)
Strong CAM/TMI reconciliation experience, ideally with strip plazas
Proven ability to read and interpret commercial leases
Confidence communicating with tenants by phone and email; strong language skills are essential
Experience with Yardi (Yardi Breeze acceptable; full Yardi preferred)
Strong month-end, reporting, and variance analysis skills
Hands-on mindset with a focus on accuracy, process improvement, and systems efficiency
CPA designation or progress toward CPA is an asset, but not required
Experience in small to mid-sized real estate organizations is highly valued

What you'll get in return
Competitive compensation of $105,000–$120,000 plus benefits
Three weeks' vacation
Hybrid work model once systems are established (typically one day per week from home)
Flexible working hours within a standard 7.5-hour day
Direct exposure to ownership and a highly experienced Controller
Clear and structured career progression toward Assistant Controller and Controller
Opportunity to influence processes, controls, and technology (including AI-enabled efficiencies)
Long-term stability within a family-owned organization focused on retention and growth
