Our client is in the industrial manufacturing industry and is looking for a Production Manager in the Kitchener-Waterloo-Cambridge area. Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Production Manager will manage manufacturing operations by establishing priorities and general work assignments, and ensuring tasks are performed timely and safely.
Responsibilities:
· Lead, develop, and direct manufacturing and plant initiatives
· Support new product development and continuous improvement by integrating tools into processes (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, etc.)
· Develop systems to evaluate, score, and implement manufacturing process improvements
· Assist with the development of plant or process flow layouts to improve productivity
· Create and implement repeatable scoring metrics for all manufacturing and production operations
· Assist in training line workers in problem-solving techniques and on-the-spot production troubleshooting
· Determine optimum manufacturing processes and raw material usage
· Identify areas for waste reduction
· Consult with Quality Assurance staff on quality issues; evaluate the overall QA performance of the manufacturing unit
· Manage manufacturing employees, line workers, and other staff and ensure health and safety
· Assist with the selection of the appropriate capital equipment as needed, create business case, and then oversee purchase, installation, and start-up
· Create and maintain production and manufacturing documentation
Requirements:
· University Degree in Engineering or Applied Science
· 5+ years production management experience in a heavy manufacturing environment
· Heat treat, welding, and brake presses experience
· Experience in a lean manufacturing environment
· Experience with JD Edwards
· Production scheduling, logistics, and shipping knowledge
· Experience in both Union and Non-union working environments considered an asset
