Principal Database Developer (SQL) | Montreal
We're building something from the ground up — and you'd be at the centre of it.
A major financial institution is standing up a dedicated securitization technology team in Montreal, with a mandate to bring data and analytics capabilities fully in-house over the next two years. This isn't a backfill — it's a greenfield build, and you'll have architectural ownership from day one.
What You'll Do
You'll architect the data backbone of a securitization platform — designing scalable SQL Server environments, building high-performance ETL pipelines, and enabling real-time analytics that power deal execution.
You'll work closely with a small, high-calibre team, act as the technical anchor for Montreal, and coordinate with leadership across North America. As the business scales, you scale with it.

What We're Looking For
Must-Have:
- 8+ years of hands-on experience with SQL Server, SSIS, and relational database development
- Deep expertise in database design, normalization, indexing, and performance tuning
- Proven experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines and data warehousing solutions
- Strong analytical and data modelling skills — you think in data structures
- Familiarity with financial data models (time-series data, risk attributes)
- Foundational knowledge of cloud database environments (Azure or AWS)
Nice-to-Have:
- Hands-on experience with NoSQL (Elasticsearch) or in-memory computing (MemSQL/SingleStore, Redis)
- SQL Server or cloud data platform certifications
