Role Summary:
This position manages the complexities of a multi-entity environment, including salaried, hourly, and unionized workforces. In addition to standard processing, the incumbent will be involved with CRA compliance, Canada Labour Code compliance, taxable benefit administration, and policy development.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Execute full-cycle bi-weekly payroll including the processing of timecards, in accordance with leave policies, and general payroll compliance.
- Perform complex monthly reconciliations of payroll general ledger accounts and investigate variances
- Calculate and administer all taxable benefits in strict accordance with CRA guidelines, ensuring accurate year-end T4 reporting
- Lead the year-end process, including the reconciliation and filing of T4s, WCB, EHT’s, and other compliance forms
- Act as the point of contact for internal/external audits and government inquiries regarding payroll matters
- Support the finance department with cash accounting and the accounts receivable, and accounts payable cycles where necessary
Must haves:
- Minimum Grade 12 diploma or equivalent
- Minimum 4 years’ payroll and accounting experience in a medium-to-large organization
- Diploma in accounting related field or equivalent experience
- Experience with Canada Labor Code and various payroll contracts or agreements
- Proven ability to manage accounting figures and financial records
- Strong computer proficiency and aptitude with data entry and reporting software programs
- A strong sense of accountability, honesty, and responsibility in all tasks, supporting the trust that we have built with passengers, partners, and communities
- Enthusiasm for contributing to our unique mission, whether that’s through direct customer service, operational excellence, or behind-the-scenes support
- Must be a legally entitled to work in Canada
