Job Posting Description
What You Will Get To Do

This position reports to the Supervisor of Operations (Parks) and/or the Supervisors of Operations (Roads/Traffic), and is under the daily direction of the Working Foreperson(s). The successful candidate will be required to work in the position of Parks Maintainer from approximately April to mid-November and in the position of Labourer, Roads from approximately mid-November to the end of March each year.
The Parks Maintainer Is Responsible For
performing renovation and repair duties within the General Maintenance workgroup, on various park facilities/structures, including, but not limited to, field houses, park buildings, fences, playground equipment and other park amenities (such as benches, shade sails, signage, etc.);
completing required maintenance by utilizing carpentry, plumbing, irrigation, electrical, or welding skills, and/or concrete work, dependent upon the required repair;
installation of play equipment, and reporting back on the status playground conditions and maintaining accurate record;
performing seasonal tasks such as special event set ups and/or snow and ice removal;
conducting minor equipment maintenance and checks;
ensuring all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner;
providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public and/or staff; and,
other duties as required and assigned.
The Labourer, Roads Is Responsible For
operating and maintaining various equipment, vehicles and tools;
flagging and traffic control;
installation of traffic signs and detours;
repairing and/or installing Town fences;
concrete repairs and installation;
assisting with roadway patrolling, maintenance, repairs and/or clean up;
tree trimming and/or removal;
snow clearing and application of salt on the road and/or sidewalk areas;
ensuring all equipment and/or tools are operated in a safe and professional manner;
providing excellent customer service, including responding to inquiries/concerns from the general public and other members of staff in a courteous manner; and,
assisting with other duties as assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
a secondary school graduation diploma;
completion of applicable trade school programs and/or extensive experience in carpentry, welding and/or construction;
Playground Inspector certification (or a willingness to obtain);
a minimum of three (3) years directly related experience with general parks maintenance;
a valid Class "DZ" Driver's License, maintained in good standing;
a minimum of one (1) year demonstrated experience operating vehicles over 11,000 k.g., G.V.W., including tandem axle trucks;
a successful completion of Defensive Driving training;
valid First Aid and CPR certification;
the ability to operate various tools and equipment in a technical and safe manner; and
physically fit and capable of performing strenuous physical labour with heavy lifting up to 50 lbs. in varying weather conditions.
What We Offer You
Parks Maintainer: $ $40.77 per hour (Band E)
Labourer, Roads: $ $35.42 per hour (Band G)

Roads - Flex hours, including days, afternoons, and nights, forty (40) hours per week. Shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., Sunday to Saturday. Parks - This position may work flex hours, including days, afternoons, and nights, forty (40) hours per week. Between December-March shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 12:00 a.m. and 11:59 p.m., Sunday to Saturday. Between the months of April-November shifts may be scheduled between the hours of 5:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., Sunday to Saturday
