Department Overview


Cards and Merchant Solutions is the largest dual issuer of Visa and MasterCard products and holds the position of #1 market share in Canada. TD Consumer and Business credit cards are distributed nationally, leveraging our retail distribution network, direct response channels and key co‑brand partnerships including Aeroplan. TD is a leader in direct‑to‑consumer affinity marketing with hundreds of partnerships with financial institutions, retailers, non‑profit organizations, sports teams and other third‑party organizations, including private‑label financing. As a trusted business partner, TD Merchant Solutions offers a full range of payment processing solutions and payment innovation for all types of businesses, including some of Canada’s largest retailers.


Job Description


To promote the business and customer loyalty by contacting merchants to retain and re‑negotiate the price, contract and profitability of franchise‑able banking customers. Demonstrate product knowledge and training knowledge of products and services and refer merchants to appropriate team members or internal bank partners. The inbound Client Relations Specialist will also assist in other tasks assigned as per the needs of the business.


Job Requirements


Customer: Create legendary experiences at every interaction and look for ways to contribute to the ongoing improvement of the overall merchant customer experience. Ensure customer problems are handled appropriately, escalating issues when necessary, and defuse escalations by building strong rapport with clients. Help drive our LEI/CEI program results and demonstrate our Comfort Promise.


Financial Results: Possess strong financial acumen and the ability to quickly analyze a merchant’s existing metrics and competitive offerings while maintaining pricing margins. Present solutions that support the merchant’s ongoing business needs and take advantage of opportunities to sell TD Merchant Services products and services by proactively addressing customer needs.


Operational Results & Risk Management: Multitask in a fast‑paced environment, achieve planned adherence and average handle‑time goals to ensure service levels are met, complete administrative and call‑quality control tasks at an above‑average level, and elevate issues through the proper channels. Manage pricing requests within established timeliness and ensure timely escalation of customer concerns.


Employee: Contribute to a positive working environment, actively participate in performance management, and meet professional/personal development objectives using learning maps.
