Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist
Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Medical Office Assistant / Phlebotomist to support both administrative and clinical operations within our Oakville practice. This role is essential to ensuring efficient workflow, accurate documentation, and a positive patient experience.
Key Responsibilities
• Answer phones, respond to patient inquiries, and schedule/confirm appointments.
• Enter and update patient information and vital signs accurately in the Accuro EMR system.
• Prepare and maintain clean, fully stocked examination rooms.
• Welcome patients and assist with exam preparation.
• Measure and record vital signs including height, weight, blood pressure, and blood glucose.
• Perform venipuncture and specimen collection safely and accurately while ensuring patient comfort.
• Properly label, document, and handle specimens in accordance with laboratory and infection control standards.
• Support physicians and healthcare staff with administrative and clinical tasks as required.
Qualifications
• Certification in Phlebotomy from a Canadian Accredited Phlebotomy Institute (required).
• Experience in a medical or clinical office setting (preferred).
• Proficiency with EMR systems and general computer applications.
• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to multitask.
• Knowledge of privacy legislation, infection control, and workplace safety standards.
• Professional, patient-centered communication skills.
