The Opportunity
Corporate Facilities provides the City of Barrie with expertise in four key service areas: facility planning, design and construction; maintenance and property management, facility asset management and energy management. As a Centre of Excellence for a large and complex inventory of physical assets, the department comprises all the necessary functions and lines of business to ensure the full life-cycle management of the City of Barrie's facility and property portfolios.
Under the general guidance and direction of the Facility Supervisor, the Marina Facility Crew Lead position is responsible for supporting the City of Barrie Marina and Waterfront facilities. This temporary, FT casual position is responsible for supporting the daily operation of the marina gas dock/boat launch, seasonal dockage, transient dockage, and boat yard administration. This position is the frontline for customer service, scheduling of boat yard entry and removal, and communicating with customers for quoting, and payments. This position focuses on providing quality service and complaint resolution in a friendly and professional manner while maintaining strong working relationships with other staff, service providers, and clients. Overall, this position plays an integral role in ensuring the City of Barrie Marina and waterfront facilities maintain a safe, clean, and suitable environment for its residents and visitors.

Education (degree/diploma/certifications)
Secondary School Diploma
Eligibility for and willingness to obtain Restricted Operators Certificate - Maritime (VHF Radio License) from an accredited association, organization or institution within 90 Days
Completion of Valid Pleasure Craft Operators Card Certification (PCOC) from an accredited association, organization or institution Upon Hire
Eligibility for and willingness to obtain WHMIS Training within 30 Days
Eligibility for and willingness to obtain Workplace Electrical Safety (CSA Z Training within 30 Days

Experience
Two (2) years of cumulative part-time experience or one (1) year of full-time experience performing duties related to the above mentioned major responsibilities
Demonstrated experience utilizing powerboats and sailboats
Knowledge/Skill/Ability
General knowledge of the following legislation, regulations, or requirements: Clean Marine and Blue Flag Environmental Regulations
Working knowledge of the following legislation, regulations, or requirements: Radio Communications Act
Working knowledge of the following principles and standards: within recreational boating industry.
Demonstrated Ability to:

Valid Ontario Class "G" Driver's Licence in good standing

Please note that this is a requirement of the position for any new employees to the City of Barrie in accordance with the Police Record Check Policy. Existing employees who have met this criteria will be exempt from this requirement.
Other Important Information
Location: City of Barrie Marina and Waterfront Facilities, Barrie, Ontario
Hours: The normal hours of work are 40 hours per week in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
Wage: This position is within the CUPE Local 2380 Bargaining Unit with the following pay level and 2025 pay range:
Pay Level: Level 3
Yearly Salary: $55,827.20 to $66,830.40
Hourly Pay Rate: $26.84 to $32.13
