Maintenance Mechanic

Canada Brick, a subsidiary of General Shale Brick, North America’s largest manufacturer of clay brick and masonry materials, is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic for our Burlington, Ontario manufacturing facility. This role is ideal for an experienced maintenance professional who thrives in an industrial production environment and is committed to safety, teamwork, and equipment reliability.
Position Overview:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for repairing, troubleshooting, and maintaining mechanical systems to support efficient plant operations. This position works closely with the Production Department and supports both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities:
Repair and troubleshoot mechanical systems, including hydraulics, pneumatics, and conveying systems
Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and welding procedures
Work collaboratively with Production team members to support daily operations
Assist the Production Department with job changes and equipment adjustments
Lubricate kiln car wheels and assist with bearing and wheel changes
Participate in scheduled and unscheduled maintenance shutdowns; overtime may be required
Monitor and support dust collector system operations
Maintain a safe and efficient work environment in accordance with company policies
Support other crew members as required
Report maintenance needs to Supervisors and/or Lead Hands
Qualifications:
Four (4) or more years of Maintenance Mechanic experience
Experience with conveying systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical systems, pipefitting, welding, and plumbing
Working knowledge of PLC and VFD systems
High school diploma required
Maintenance trade courses preferred
