Intermediate Engineer / Technologist

Role

The Intermediate Engineer / Technologist – Electrical will be engaged in low/medium voltage design, testing and support efforts within the Electrical Utilities, Energy Services, Energy Storage, Power Generation and Renewables industries. This position requires involvement in the delivery of electrical scope associated with related project efforts within our Electrical Engineering Team in order to meet the expectations of the project, schedule and customer. The Intermediate Engineer / Technologist will function both independently, engaging on various project-related design and support efforts, as well as working as part of a comprehensive team working with other technical staff, Project Managers and customers.

Areas of Accountability

The Intermediate Electrical Engineer or Technologist will be responsible for:

  • Under the direction of the Project Manager and Senior Technical Managers, participate in the technical design and implementation of electrical and control system projects
  • Participate in the development of design basis documents, specifications, cost estimates, and scopes of work
  • Complete as required, cable tray designs, voltage drop calculations, conductor sizing, control/marshaling panel designs, I/O schematics, power distribution, field junction boxes, cable schedules, etc.
  • Prepare electrical construction bid documents
  • In coordination with Corporate Procurement, select equipment vendors and procure equipment
  • Participate in the installation of electrical and control system equipment
  • Interface with customers and vendors on technical issues
  • Produce detailed design documentation that meets the technical and quality standards of the project requirements.
  • Participate in acceptance testing and ensure deficiencies are addressed

Qualification Requirements

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's in Engineering or a Diploma in Technology in a related field.
  • 5 -8 years of experience in electrical engineering project experience
  • Strong command of the English language (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong personal relationships
  • Working knowledge of Energy Services, Energy Storage, Power Generation or Renewables is considered an asset
  • Experience with working on multiple projects simultaneously, along with associated time management and prioritization skills
  • Effective organization skills

Salary & Employment Details

  • Employment Type: Full-time, 40 hours per week.
  • Wage: $ $74.75/hour
  • Preference given to Calgary or Edmonton based candidates; would consider remote work for candidates in AB, BC or SK.
