General Manager
Job Description
Location: Fraser Valley, British Columbia
Industry: Cannabis manufacturing (pre-roll production and distribution)
Reports to: Ownership / Board
About the Company
We’re a growing cannabis pre-roll company based in Fraser Valley, B.C., producing high-quality pre-rolls in multiple formats for licensed retailers and distributors. Our products are currently sold across British Columbia, and we’re preparing to expand into the Ontario market. With a strong brand reputation, stable sales base, and scalable production, we’re seeking a General Manager to lead our next stage of growth.
Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership
- Oversee all aspects of pre-roll manufacturing operations, including production scheduling, QA/QC, packaging, inventory, and logistics.
- Manage compliance with Health Canada and provincial regulations (e.g., excise tracking, packaging/labeling standards, and provincial distribution requirements).
- Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) to drive consistency, efficiency, and cost control across production lines.
- Monitor key operational metrics: yields, throughput, labor efficiency, and downtime.
- Work closely with QA to ensure product integrity, safety, and compliance standards are consistently met.
- Evaluate and scale capacity (automation, new formats, contract manufacturing partners) as volume grows.
- Own the company’s P&L, budget, and financial planning processes.
- Lead monthly reporting, cost accounting, and margin optimization initiatives.
- Collaborate with the leadership team to refine pricing strategies and gross-margin models across SKUs.
- Support expansion into Ontario and other provinces by modeling production economics and logistics.
- Manage relationships with distribution partners (e.g., BC LDB, OCS, and other provincial boards).
- Work with ownership to evaluate financing options, grants, and capital investment opportunities to fund scale‑up.
Team & Culture
- Build and manage a small but high-performing team across production, operations, and finance.
- Establish accountability systems, performance metrics, and a positive, compliance-first culture.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in operations management, manufacturing, or finance leadership — ideally in cannabis, CPG, food/beverage, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, cost management, and business modeling.
- Familiarity with Canadian cannabis regulations, especially around packaging, excise, and provincial distribution systems (BCLDB, OCS).
- Proven track record leading teams and scaling production environments.
- Strong problem‑solving skills and comfort managing both operational details and high-level financial performance.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or Engineering; CPA or MBA preferred but not required.
Compensation
- Competitive base salary + annual performance bonus.
Why Join Us
- Join a fast-growing, product-focused cannabis manufacturer with a reputation for quality and reliability.
- Shape the operational backbone and financial discipline of a brand entering its next growth phase — including expansion into Ontario and beyond.
- Be part of a lean, entrepreneurial team where you’ll have autonomy, impact, and visibility.
- Located in Fraser Valley, B.C. — accessible to the Lower Mainland, offering balance of lifestyle and career opportunity.
