FNHA Overview


Title: Family Physician; option for additional position as a 0.2 FTE Medical Director


Contract: Up to 1.0 FTE (typically 1680 hours a year)


Location: New facility in Harrison Mills, BC


Estimated Yearly Remuneration: Physician Master Agreement Full Scope range placement of $283,636 - $354,545 subject to whether scope of services includes facility‑based coverage. Additional Rural Retention Program Premium of 2.1%. Compensation is scaled to Full Time Equivalent. Family Physicians are not required to make a contribution towards overhead.

The Éyameth’ Health Centre will offer safe, accessible and culturally appropriate primary care services to all residents North of the Fraser River between Agassiz and Mission. The Éyameth’ Health Center is a society‑run, Nations‑led Primary Care Center under the provincial First Nations Primary Care Initiative. We are a groundbreaking, standalone primary care facility partnered with the Ministry of Health, Fraser Health, First Nations Health Authority and the Chilliwack Division of Family Practice. The FNPCI program aims to improve access to primary care services for First Nations people across BC in a way that is culturally safe and closer to home. The FNPCI is part of the province’s primary care strategy, which is integrating team‑based care in communities throughout BC.


Éyameth’ Health Centre services are designed to provide wraparound, team‑based primary care, mental health and traditional wellness services for all residents of the North Fraser region. There will also be a home hemodialysis unit, pharmacy, level 1 lab and rehabilitation room. It is expected that the Centre will initially operate Monday to Friday (excluding Statutory Holidays) during regular business hours (this may change over time due to operational needs).


The Family Physician (FP) will be the most responsible provider for a patient panel but is expected to collaborate in team‑based care for patients and support the practice of Western and Traditional Wellness approaches to patient health. A minimum panel size is expected to reach 650 patients by March 2027 (clinic to have 1 FT FP and 1 FT NP).


Responsibilities


The FP will be responsible for practicing with cultural humility, to provide primary care in a culturally safe, team‑based environment that recognizes the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual aspects of the client (and family) to provide whole person care, in compliance with policies and procedures of acceptable BC health and wellness regulations and standards.



  • You have an active practicing license in good standing with the College of Physicians of BC (CPSBC).

  • You are passionate about supporting First Nations individuals and families on their health and wellness journeys.

  • You have training in Cultural Safety & Humility/willing to take ongoing training.

  • You have experience working with First Nations people and communities and providing culturally safe care.

  • Strong collaborative interpersonal and inter‑disciplinary skills.

  • Current valid class 5 driving license.

  • Willingness to start working out of the Sts’ailes Yeqwethet Health Centre as we prepare to move into the new health center building in summer 2025.

  • Interest in mentorship, teaching and innovative health and wellness service delivery in a community‑driven and team‑based environment.
