Position Details
Athletics & Recreation Services (ARS) at the University of Lethbridge is seeking applications for a qualified Facility Operator to begin employment as soon as possible. This is a full-time, continuing position. (7.5 hours per day, with varying shifts that may include evenings and weekends).
Reporting to the Manager, Athletic & Recreation Facilities, the Facility Operator plays a key role in the safe and efficient operation of the University's athletic and recreation facilities, including the Community Sports Stadium, Co-op Centre for Sport and Wellness, Max Bell Regional Aquatic Centre, Gymnasiums, Fitness Centre, and Ascent Climbing Centre.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine preventative and on-demand maintenance, including athletic and recreation equipment repair, work order management, and procurement of parts.
- Conduct regular inspections of major facility equipment (pool systems, gym equipment, artificial turf, bleachers, scoreboards, etc.) and ensure proper handling of hazardous pool chemicals.
- Act as Lead Operator at facility bookings and major events, working with staff, user groups, and contractors to coordinate set-ups, troubleshoot issues, and ensure compliance with policies.
- Provide technical expertise and support on facility systems and serve as a liaison with Facilities, building maintenance, trades, contractors, and suppliers.
- Complete administrative duties such as work order entry (WebTMA), research and ordering of parts, and reporting.
- Assist with maintenance projects and equipment installations.
Position Qualifications
Qualifications:
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience in an event or facilities-related environment.
- High school diploma (post-secondary or technical training considered an asset).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Teams.
- Intermediate First Aid (Formerly known as Standard First Aid) with CPR/AED certification.
- Swimming Pool Operator Level I and Level II (must be completed within the first year of employment).
- A valid unrestricted Class 5 Driver's License with no more than 6 demerits and submission of a motor vehicle record (driver abstract) dated within 3 months of the posting close is required.
Preferred/Additional Training (assets):
- Confined Space Entry & Rescue.
- Fall Protection.
- WHMIS.
- Aerial Lift / Working from Heights.
- Building Maintenance Level 1.
- Sports Field Maintenance Level 1.
- Knowledge of Fusion Software and WebTMA.
- Knowledge of Swim Meets and other Athletic Events.
Starting Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$4, $5,114.00 monthly
Full Salary Range (at 1.0 FTE)
$4, $5,652.00 monthly (AUPE - Grade 9)
