Early Childhood Educator Job Description and Responsibilities
We have two locations in the Sage Creek area, with a third opening up in the fall and are looking for staff for all locations. We will need staff for all programs (infant, preschool and school age).
The ECE would be the lead in the classroom working alongside two CCAs with a group of children. The ECE assists with the daily operations of the center; provides high quality early learning, supervision and guidance.
Education and Training
- Must be qualified as an ECE ll or lll in Manitoba
- An ECE must have completed a 2-year diploma in Early Childhood Education through a recognized program of studies or have completed a Competency Based Assessment /Prior Learning Assessment recognized by the ELCC
- An ECE lll must have successfully completed an approved program with specialized training approved by the ELCC
- Participation in at least 24 hours of professional development annually
- Must be certified in First Aid/CPR Level C
- Must have completed online "Commit To Kids" training or willing to obtain
- Trained in Circle of Security would be considered an asset.
Responsibilities:
Health and Safety
- Implementing Health and Safety Policies and Procedures, while complying with Fire and Health regulations including fire drills, evacuation plans and use of extinguishers
- Familiar with Our Code of Conduct and Safety Enhancement Plan
- Ensure toys and equipment are maintained and safe, indoors, and outdoors
- Ensure medication is being administered and recorded
- Report incidents and injuries to management, while ensuring documenting and reporting are being done effectively
- Implementation of Best Practices
- Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of all program equipment
- Understanding of Child Abuse protocols, infectious diseases guidelines and Workplace Health and Safety procedures
- Perform house cleaning duties
- Familiar with Transportation procedures
- Familiar with children Uris plans
- Ensure First Aid kits are stalked
- Ensure staff that are without returned Child Abuse and Criminal Record Checks are not being left alone on the floor
- Ensure cleaning products are made correctly and stored properly
- Ensure the Centre is clean and debris free
- Ensure proper hygiene is being followed in the areas of diapering, toileting, eating and napping
Professionalism
- Maintaining strong relationships with families, colleagues, and other professionals
- Provide leadership to CCA's
- Ensuring a positive and gossip free work environment
- Remain highly professional when handling delicate or sensitive situations
- Maintain confidentiality
- Demonstrate and maintain Ethical behavior's
- Work with educational institutions to achieve common goals
- Comfortable speaking with parents on sensitive subjects while maintaining understanding and empathy
- Attend staff meetings and contribute to them to enhance the center as needed
- Maintain appropriate work habits such as punctuality and regular attendance
Program
- Implementing an enriching age-appropriate program
- Adapting the program for children with additional needs
- Managing personal room budgets effectively
- Ensuring all our Best Practices are being followed and implemented
- Ensure communication takes place with management when supplies, material and equipment are needed
- Ensure attendance of children is being done regularly and effectively
- Implementing a program that meets the emotional, physical, social, and cognitive development of the children to the best of their abilities
- Ensure the posted daily schedule is being implemented while adjusting to better meet the children's needs when required
- Display a nurturing and empathetic tone while acknowledging children's accomplishments and challenges
- Communicating with management when concerning behaviors arise
- Ensuring any Inclusion Support Program is being followed through based on the set out goals and needs of the child
- Implementation of Best Practices
- Be flexible working different shifts when needed
- Ensure programming is being posted and displayed on platforms used by the center or within the center
After a three month probation period we offer full time staff; 3 weeks of vacation, 8 personal days, a group pension plan, and Blue Cross health benefits.
Our centre closes twice a year for staff professional development.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Starting from $27.56 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
