Job Description
Position Overview
Join the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) as Director – Indigenous Health – Workforce Development. The incumbent will enhance the region’s capacity to recruit, retain, and advance Indigenous employees in the health care workforce.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement strategies that positively influence Indigenous employee retention and advancement.
- Coordinate and support WRHA recruitment and retention efforts, including committee participation.
- Create, update, and distribute materials and tools that support recruitment strategies.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement strategies that enhance Indigenous participation in the health care workforce.
- Support the development of Indigenous representative workforce strategies across the Winnipeg Health Region.
Experience & Qualifications
- 5 years of progressively senior management and leadership experience, preferably in the public sector.
- 5 years of experience in human resource management, including recruitment, retention and training; Indigenous HR management required.
- Experience in Indigenous Workforce Development with a focus on program development, implementation and evaluation.
- Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively with community based traditional Indigenous cultural programs or initiatives with previous experience in managing diversity.
- Experience with, or knowledge of, enabling health system leaders and teams with applying an Indigenous lens to health operations and exploring ways to provide culturally safe care and offer traditional Indigenous healing practices as part of health services delivery.
- Demonstrated experience in identifying key performance indicators and conducting comprehensive benefits analysis with respect to Indigenous health.
- Experience in project management and coaching.
- Community development expertise including public engagement & consultation experience.
- Experience building effective partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, particularly with Indigenous governments, organizations and agencies.
Education
A degree or post‑secondary education in human resources, business administration, or another relevant field is required.
Certification / Licensure
Valid driver’s license.
