Diesel Mechanic / Heavy Equipment Technician
Newfoundland & Labrador, New Brunswick, and Remote Field Operations (Fly in, Fly out or Local to St.Johns Area)
If you're fly in fly out arrangement, you will be put up in camp during working times
Our client is a Canadian diamond drilling contractor serving major exploration and mining projects across Atlantic Canada. We operate modern surface, underground, and heliportable drills supported by a large fleet of track carriers, excavators, Morookas, trucks, and support equipment.
Our team is growing, and we're looking for a skilled Diesel Mechanic who can keep our fleet running safely and reliably in some of the toughest working conditions in Canada.
Position Summary
The Diesel Mechanic will perform inspection, maintenance, and repair work on Rally's drilling rigs, heavy equipment, and support vehicles. This position requires hands-on technical expertise, strong diagnostic skills, and the ability to work independently both in the shop and field (camp) environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair
diesel engines
, hydraulic systems, and powertrains on drill rigs and support vehicles. - Conduct scheduled and preventative maintenance according to manufacturer and company standards.
- Perform
in-field service calls
to remote drill sites as required. - Maintain accurate maintenance records, service logs, and parts usage.
- Work collaboratively with drilling crews and operations staff to minimize downtime.
- Ensure all work is performed in accordance with
safety, environmental, and company procedures
. - Assist with equipment mobilization, rebuilds, and modifications as needed.
Requirements
- Red Seal Journeyperson Heavy Duty Equipment Technician (preferred)
or equivalent experience. - Minimum
3 years' experience
servicing diesel engines, hydraulics, and mobile equipment (drilling, forestry, mining, or construction). - Strong diagnostic and mechanical troubleshooting skills.
- Familiarity with
Caterpillar, Cummins, John Deere, and Atlas Copco
systems an asset. - Ability to read and interpret schematics, service manuals, and technical drawings.
- Physically capable of field work, including lifting up to 50 lbs and working outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Valid driver's licence;
First Aid, WHMIS, and Fall Protection
certifications are assets. - Willingness to travel and work
rotational shifts
in remote project locations.
