Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Delivery Driver to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for safely transporting goods to various locations, ensuring timely deliveries, and maintaining excellent customer service. This role requires a strong focus on safety, efficiency, and professionalism, with opportunities to operate heavy equipment and perform vehicle maintenance as needed.
Responsibilities
- Safely operate delivery vehicles, including commercial trucks and vans, to transport freight and goods to designated destinations.
- Load and unload freight using forklifts or other heavy equipment when necessary, ensuring proper handling and securement of items.
- Navigate routes efficiently, adhering to traffic laws and delivery schedules to meet customer expectations.
- Perform routine vehicle inspections and basic automotive repairs to ensure optimal operation of delivery vehicles.
- Communicate effectively with dispatchers and customers regarding delivery status or any issues encountered during routes.
- Maintain accurate delivery documentation, including receipts, manifests, and logs.
- Assist with warehouse activities such as inventory management or freight handling when not on delivery routes.
Requirements
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; commercial driving experience preferred.
- Experience operating forklifts, heavy equipment, or other industrial machinery is a plus.
- Knowledge of freight handling procedures and safety protocols for commercial deliveries.
- Ability to operate basic automotive repair tools for minor vehicle maintenance.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time effectively across multiple deliveries.
- Physical ability to lift heavy freight and perform manual handling tasks as required.
