Job Description
This role focuses on data design and data engineering.
Key Qualifications
- Solid background in data engineering or programming field, expected to own end-to-end issues while working closely with Data Engineer.
- Hands on data development work: data profiling, data pipeline development, data load.
- Summarize and communicate issues/updates simply while retaining technical depth for deeper troubleshooting.
- Act as the POD owner delegate, provide overall POD leadership, refine backlog items and assign issues to POD members when required.
- Effective communication upstream and downstream with data providers and business requirement stakeholders.
- Understanding of existing TD data infrastructure would be considered an asset.
Customer Responsibilities
- Lead on complex analysis in an evolving data environment.
- Gather, analyze, document and maintain all data requirements related to business applications, interfaces, and reporting environments in different kinds of data maps.
- Apply standards and best practices to ensure the application’s data is accurate, complete, current, understandable, and accessible.
- Work with data owners to define and manage data dictionary/catalog for respective data platforms, systems/servers/applications.
- Advise on efforts of data modelers, data warehouse/data integration developers, and data management process in data lakes, database usage and data warehousing.
- Adopt, maintain and enhance Enterprise Data Governance related policies, aligning with TD's Enterprise standards.
- Provide thought leadership and insights on emerging data information management solutions and/or frameworks.
- Ensure programs / policies / practices are well managed, meet business needs, comply with internal and external requirements, and align with business priorities.
- Provide leadership in cross-functional / enterprise initiatives as a top expert, helping identify risk/provide guidance for complex situations across multiple domains.
- Keep updated on emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements and assess potential impacts.
- Maintain a culture of risk management and control, supported by effective processes aligned with risk appetite.
Shareholder Responsibilities
- Collaborate with technology and business teams to ensure alignment and guide successful delivery of data solutions.
- Facilitate data analysis and investigations for business users and QA teams, assisting with complex issues and validating business cases during development and testing phases.
- Provide oversight on business impact post-implementation, ensuring the data solution meets intended outcomes during warranty period.
- Coordinate business requirements with technical teams, ensuring smooth integration of data into source code repositories and promoting effective source code management practices.
- Lead or participate in business and technical design reviews, ensuring data architectures meet operational and business objectives.
- Raise and manage change requests with business stakeholders, supporting release management processes and timely delivery.
- Lead initiatives on data governance and data management by ensuring business requirements align with enterprise data governance policies.
- Ensure business metadata and data lineage are well-documented and integrated with enterprise metadata management tools.
- Adhere and promote best practices for data security, protecting technical and business aspects from vulnerabilities.
- Document business requirements and technical decisions, communicating risks, lessons learned, enhancement opportunities across teams.
- Safeguard the organization’s interests, identifying and managing business risks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory guidelines.
- Stay current on industry trends, improving collaboration between business and technology teams.
- Enable cross-functional collaboration, sharing knowledge and best practices to enhance overall project success.

- Highly seasoned professional role requiring substantial knowledge/expertise in a complex field and broader related areas.
- Master-level conceptual expertise in own area of specialty / domain and knowledge of broader related areas.
- Primary subject matter expert in multiple areas, consulting with clients/project teams on all aspects of business information management processes and procedures.
- Expert level analytical and problem‑solving skills, fluent in multiple programming languages.
- Work autonomously as a senior/lead on a diverse range of tasks, coaching and educating others.
- Manage and direct activities related to analysis, design and support of business information management solutions.
- In-depth expertise with big data solutions and familiarity with big data technologies.
- Keep abreast of rapid business and technology innovation within business information management field.
- Familiar with visualization tools.
- Generally reports to a Senior Manager or Executive.
Experience and Education
- Undergraduate degree or Technical Certificate and/or
- 5+ years of relevant experience from a statistical, mathematical, engineering or software development background.
