POSITION SUMMARY
The Contract & Compliance Specialist is a 1-year maternity leave coverage contract. This role will support the contract management and regulatory compliance functions of the organization, including supporting commercial contract lifecycle management, conducting compliance audits of the organization's business practices, and establishing compliance guidelines and processes for quality assurance. This role involves ensuring that the operational functions of the organization, such as sales, billing, and client and customer support are compliant with regulatory requirements while meeting business objectives. The ideal candidate should understand business processes and operations with strong written communication skills. Experience working in the utilities industry or other highly regulated environment is an asset.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Oversee agreement lifecycle in contract management software.
- Track and monitor contractual milestones throughout the term of each contract and coordinate with the relevant departments during the contract implementation process to ensure that tasks are completed.
- Provide legal support to Senior Counsel and business clients throughout contract negotiation process.
- Provide regulatory research and Senior Counsel and Vice President, Regulatory.
- Oversee the management and maintenance of contractual document management system.
- Coordinate with the relevant departments during hand-off meetings to implement revisions made to agreements.
- Oversee the accurate administration of contract terms on contract management database.
- Prepare and provide reports to Senior Counsel and management, as required, with respect to pending contract revisions, outstanding payments, difficult or problematic contractual issues to facilitate timely resolution and avoid escalation of disputes.
- Report to Senior Counsel and Vice President, Regulatory, on a regular basis.
- Perform quarterly audit of regulatory material (Conditions of Service, USC's, notices) to ensure compliance
- Perform billing audit of 10% customer base after key regulatory events or changes
- Maintain an in-depth understanding of regulatory Codes, Rules and Regulations across all provinces
- Review bill prints to ensure regulatory compliance
- Analyse bills to ensure rates and calculations are consistent with provincial regulations
- On a regular basis review provincial support programs to ensure billing and reconciliation practices are in accordance with legislation
- Participate in regulatory workshops concerning the design and implementation of new policies and programs
- Prepare training and education programs for internal staff when new regulatory policies and programs are launched
- Work with the Client Services Analyst in the development of reports and statistics relating to regulatory analytics and compliance
- Review documents, including bills, notices, enrolments to ensure regulatory compliance
- Review website to ensure regulatory compliance including Accessibility standard,
- Prepare and present to other departments regulatory violations within these departments and provide corrective action
- Keep apprised of regulatory changes, industry trends and corporate directives
- Other relevant duties will be assigned as required.

WORKING CONDITIONS
- Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
- Some travel is required within Ontario.
- Overtime as required.
- 4 days in office.
