A career as an Commercial Underwriting Specialist in the Commercial Banking team at National Bank is to act as a credit structuring and underwriting specialist who supports client success and risk management. This job allows you to have a positive impact on the organization through your financial analysis skills, attention to detail, and proactive approach to credit and client service.

Your role:
  • Perform credit underwriting for new and existing borrowing clients, supporting the sales team with timely and effective credit submissions.
  • Analyze financial statements, industry trends, and economic conditions to assess the viability of commercial lending opportunities.
  • Manage daily operational and administrative interactions with clients to ensure exceptional service delivery.
  • Provide risk recommendations and ensure adherence to lending protocols and due diligence practices.
  • Collaborate with sales and credit teams to deliver competitive, full-service banking solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and support branch success through proactive learning.

  • Within the Commercial Banking sector, you are part of a team of credit professionals and relationship managers, reporting to the Manager, Portfolio Management.   • Basic requirements
  • Hold a diploma in Business Administration or equivalent experience, ideally with 2+ years of experience in banking or commercial lending.
  • Proven skills in financial statement analysis and commercial credit underwriting.
  • Familiarity with credit tools such as Moody's Financial Analyst.
  • Highly organized, driven, and eager to build a career in financial services.
  • Strong computer proficiency and a commitment to continuous learning.
Requirements:
  • University degree in Business Administration or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably with 2+ years of experience in commercial banking or commercial lending.
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial statement analysis and commercial credit adjudication.
  • Proficiency with credit analysis tools and platforms, including Moody's Analytics (Financial Analyst) or comparable systems.
  • Highly organized, self-motivated professional with a strong interest in building a long-term career in the financial services industry.
  • Strong computer literacy and a demonstrated commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
