Job Details
- Position: Class 1 Commercial Driver
- Type: Full time, on call, 55+ hours weekly, 10-hour shifts
- Pay: $0.50 - $0.70 per mile + bonus
- Term: 1 year with possible extension
- Location: Based out of Edmonton, AB with weekly trips to and from the US
- Start: ASAP

Job Responsibilities
- Load freight - lift requirement: 80 lbs
- Unload freight - lift requirement: 80 lbs
- Move freight - force requirement: 54 lbs
- Hook/Unhook trailer - force requirement: 90 lbs
- Tarp, strap, and chain loads on a regular basis – force requirement: 100 lbs
- Perform and complete thorough pre and post trip inspections
- Drive upwards of 60 hours and 3000 miles on a weekly basis
- Predictable attendance
- Able and willing to travel to and from the US on a weekly basis
- Submit random drug and alcohol test
- Comfortable being remote monitored while on-duty
- Utilize WhatsApp for communication with dispatch
- Utilize GoMotive for tracking and completing driver logs and inspections
- Manage the pressure of strict pickup and delivery schedules and procedures
- Diagnose and report basic mechanical issues
- Complete 36-hour resets at remote locations
- Work weekends
- Wait 1-2 days for backhauls
- Adhere to all company policies
- Striving to ensure the safety of all individuals that might be affected by your actions while on the job
- Act with professionalism at all times
- Transparency and honesty to management in all matters concerning the company
- Provide exceptional customer service to shippers and receivers
Other Responsibilities may include:
- Support the maintenance of the tractor and trailer unit (basic to moderate repairs)
- Policy development
- Load procurement
- Work in harsh weather conditions (ex. heavy rain, heavy snow, < -25°ree;C or > 25°ree;C)
Qualifications
- Must be between 23 and 70 years old
- Must be able to travel to and from the Edmonton Area on a regular basis
- Must have an Alberta Commercial Driver Abstract not more than 6 months old
- Must have Class 1 License for a minimum of 3 years, manual transmission preferred
- Must have a minimum of 3 years Commercial Truck Driving experience in Canada a/o U.S.A
- No more than 2 minor violations (15 mph or greater, following too close, improper passing, defective brakes, defective equipment, oversize) in the last 3 years
- No more than 1 chargeable accident in the last 3 years
- No major violations (DUI, homicide, felony, racing, hit and run, reckless driving, suspension, fleeing arrest, accident other than ppv) in last 5 years
- Experience with flat deck a/o step deck (preferred)
- Experience with tarping (preferred)
- Experience with strapping loads (preferred)
- Experience with chaining loads (preferred)
- Experience with GoMotive (preferred)
- Experience with WhatsApp (preferred)
- Experience with heavy machinery repair (preferred)
Requirements
- Access to a personal vehicle
- Must possess a Canadian Passport or US Work Visa (B-1 a/o B-2)
- Not a smoker
- Must pass a Police Check and Vulnerability Sector Check
- Must pass a Drug and Alcohol Check
- Provide an Alberta Commercial Driver Abstract not more than 6 months old during interview process
- Complete a CEFR (English language proficiency) test if not a Canadian Citizen
- Provide 2 professional references
