Job SummaryUrban Ridge Homes is Winnipeg's leading infill builder, specializing in high-quality duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, and design-forward single-family homes in mature neighbourhoods like River Heights, Crescentwood, St. Boniface, and St Vital.
We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and detail-driven Architectural Technologist / Drafting Technician who understands the complexity of urban infill including zoning restrictions, tight lot configurations, building code compliance, and efficient massing.
This is not an entry-level drafting role.

What You'll Be Responsible For
Preparing complete permit-ready drawing packages for Infill duplexes, triplexes, and fourplexes & high-end single-family homes
Designing within tight urban lot constraints ' lots, etc.)
Ensuring compliance with Manitoba Building Code, City of Winnipeg Zoning By-Laws, Infill design guidelines
Site plans with setback compliance
Lot coverage calculations
Elevations reflecting contextual design
Construction details
Sections & assembly details
Coordinating with structural engineers, HVAC designers, and energy advisors
Reviewing drawings for constructability and cost efficiency
Supporting revisions during permit review
Updating drawings throughout construction when required
Assisting with design optimization for build efficiency
What You MUST Know
We are specifically looking for someone with strong knowledge in:
Manitoba Building Code (Part 9 residential experience required)
Winnipeg zoning regulations and infill requirements
Setbacks, height limits, lot coverage, and unprotected openings
Fire separation requirements (especially for duplexes / multi-family)
Foundation and framing detailing
Residential construction sequencing
Understanding how design impacts build cost
Technical Requirements
2+ years of residential drafting experience (Winnipeg preferred)
Diploma in Architectural Technology or equivalent
Advanced AutoCAD proficiency (required)
Revit experience (asset)
Ability to prepare permit-ready drawing sets independently
Strong detailing ability (stairs, guardrails, foundations, roof assemblies, etc.)
High attention to detail

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
