Aquatic Centre Lifeguard
The Aquatic Centre Lifeguard is responsible for ensuring the safety, supervision, and well-being of all patrons using the aquatic facility. The role involves actively monitoring pool areas, preventing accidents, responding to emergencies, and maintaining a clean and safe environment.
Major Responsibilities:
- Assist in implementing a wide range of Aquatic opportunities, programs and events for the community consistent with the philosophy of the municipal authority.
- Continuously monitor swimmers and pool activities.
- Enforce facility rules and safety regulations.
- Identify and prevent potential hazards.
- Instructing Red Cross and Royal Life Saving Society Water Safety programs as required.
- Performing facility maintenance tasks including janitorial tasks, pool cleaning, minor repairs, filtration and circulation systems maintenance, water quality monitoring, and chemical control and administering.
- Attending all staff in-service aquatic training sessions.
- Ensures that a positive image is portrayed to the public indicating the municipalities commitment to excellence in service for the residents of the Town of Redcliff.
- Preforming minor administrative duties as assigned by the Aquatic Center Manager or designated Aquatic supervisor.
- Reacts to emergency situations and performs First Aid as required.
- Complete incident and accident reports accurately.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Educations, Training and Skills:
- National Lifeguard Service Award
- Life Saving Society Bronze Cross Certificate.
- Swim for Life Instructor.
- Red Cross or St. Johns Ambulance Standard First Aid Certificate and basic rescuer CPR level C ( must be current within the last tweleve(12) months.
- A minimum of two years as a Lifeguard in Training (LIT).
- Must have good verbal and organizational skills.
- Must have the ability to multitask.
- Must meet the NLS requirements for times/distance swimming.
